Shichon puppies, often called Teddy Bear puppies, are a cross between the Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise. They are known for their soft, fluffy coats, expressive faces, and small size. Their affectionate appearance is matched by a personality that is typically friendly, cheerful, and people-oriented. Shichons often form close bonds with their families and enjoy being involved in everyday household activities. One reason Shichons are so popular is their companionable temperament. They are generally playful and outgoing without requiring the amount of exercise that many larger or more energetic breeds need. With proper socialization, they can do well with children, other dogs, and a variety of household situations. Their intelligence and desire for attention can also make them enjoyable to train, although patience and consistent, positive reinforcement are important while they are young. As with any dog, temperament varies from puppy to puppy. Shichons do require regular care to keep them healthy and comfortable. Their coats should be brushed frequently to help prevent tangles and matting, and most benefit from regular professional grooming. Routine nail trimming, ear cleaning, and dental care are also important. Shichons need daily play and moderate exercise, along with plenty of interaction and companionship. A nutritious diet, routine veterinary care, early training, and good socialization will help a Shichon puppy grow into a happy, well-adjusted companion. A few pertinent details: We live in the state of Wisconsin, in the small city of Abbotsford. Ideally, a visit to our home would give you the opportunity to interact with your puppy before adoption. She loves us as much as we love her, if that is possible.
