Description
“Paws for new beginnings”
I am a Rat Terrier puppy! I was born on March 4th and I will be ready for my forever home on August 27th! I have been family raised on a farm in the country around children. I have had my shots and de-wormers. I have been checked by a veterinarian. For more information or to schedule a visit with me, please contact Jesse Monday through Saturday. All Sunday calls will be returned on Monday.
The Rat Terrier is a true American breed with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Originally developed by farmers to be versatile working dogs, Rat Terriers were bred for their speed, intelligence, and strong hunting instincts—especially when it came to controlling rodents on farms, which is how they got their name. The breed is a mix of several terriers, including the Fox Terrier, Manchester Terrier, and later the Whippet and Beagle, which helped enhance their agility and scenting abilities. Known for their loyalty and hardworking nature, Rat Terriers have evolved from farmhands to beloved family pets, cherished for their fun-loving spirit and protective loyalty.
Rat Terriers are intelligent, energetic, and loyal companions, making them an excellent choice for families and individuals alike. Known for their playful personality and strong hunting instincts, these small-to-medium-sized dogs are both affectionate and alert, often forming close bonds with their owners. Rat Terriers are highly trainable and eager to please, with a natural talent for agility and obedience. They typically weigh between 10 to 25 pounds and have a short, easy-to-maintain coat. Whether you're looking for a fun-loving family pet or an active sidekick, a Rat Terrier is a wonderful addition to any home.
