Meet Snoopy 🩵🐾 Snoopy is a sweet little guy with a lot of spunk and lots of love to give! Life hasn’t dealt Snoopy the easiest hand. After several visits to the Vet for what we initially believed to be a Respiratory Infection, Snoopy was diagnosed with Tracheal Hypoplasia. If you are familiar with brachycephalic breeds, you may not be overly surprised at this diagnosis. While this condition isn’t uncommon in these breeds, this is our very first puppy (out of four total and final litters) to have it. The encouraging news is, as Snoopy continues to grow and develop, he will be expected to essentially “outgrow” this condition. Snoopy does not let his condition hold him back in any way. He has that classic puppy energy; he eats and drinks normally and he gets into his fair share of mischief on a daily basis. The only tell-tale sign of his condition is a wheeze that presents if Snoopy is exposed to humidity or if he is exerting a lot of energy. The wheeze subsides once Snoopy is calm, cool and rested. So what does this look like in terms of care for Snoopy? • First and foremost - Proper Vetting. You will be provided with all previous treatment records and notes from our Vet to ensure that your Vet has a thorough understanding of Snoopy’s condition and how best to move forward in managing it. • Keeping Snoopy in a relatively cooler environment - humidity and brachycephalic breeds do not coincide to begin with and humidity tends to worsen Snoopy’s wheeze. Limiting his outdoor time in the summer helps to keep him more comfortable. • Managing how much energy he expends. This can be a daunting task when dealing with a puppy that just wants to rip and run and get into everything he can chew. Limiting his “zoomie” time helps keep his wheezing at bay. Snoopy is up to date on vaccinations and dewormer. He receives daily interaction with our children and other dogs. He is truly so sweet and we want to see him go to a loving home with an owner/owners who will be every bit as invested in his care as we are, so that he can thrive and have the best quality of life 🩵🐾 Please reach out to me for more pictures and additional information if you are interested.
