Description

Look at me! I'm a very energetic Beagle puppy from great hunting parents! My mom and dad Cookie and Drew are both here with me. I have been raised on a mini farm in the country around kids. I have had my shots and dewormers and have already been to see the local veterinarian! Here's more information about Beagles: Beagles are extremely lovable dogs that are known to be friendly to everyone they meet. They were originally bred as scenthounds, and are still used today for hunting and tracking in many places. As hounds, they can be stubborn and may need training in unique and creative ways. Nevertheless, they easily capture hearts with their fun-loving personality, adorable eyes, and floppy ears. Beagles are high energy dogs and require stimulation to keep them entertained. If their attention isn’t directed elsewhere, they may be found digging, howling, or trying to escape, and therefore are not the best as guard dogs. Beagles are very affectionate, excellent with children, and know no stranger. They have enthusiastic personalities, and express that exuberance through their howls and barking. Though Beagles are extremely loving and friendly, they can be willful and should be properly trained from a young age. These delightful pups are happiest when getting lots of attention, and with a family that will give them lots of exercise. They can even adapt to apartment living but it is vital for them to be taken on walks as well as being played with. Due to their desire to sniff as well as their high prey drive, Beagles should be in a well contained, fenced-in backyard, and monitored or kept on a leash. They love to explore and can wander off if not watched. Young Beagles require a significant amount of exercise and shouldn’t be left on their own for long periods of time. As Beagles age, they are prone to laziness and weight gain from lack of exercise and overeating. Be sure to know how much food your particular dog should be eating, and do not let them be the ones that decide this, as they will have a tendency to eat more than they need. The most common colors for Beagles are brown, black, and white, but they can vary in color and size. Beagles are small dogs, with a typical height of 13-15 inches tall, and they commonly weigh 18-30 pounds. While they do shed, they have short hair that isn’t usually very noticeable. They should be brushed at least once a week to encourage new hair growth by removing older, dead hair. It is important to care for your pup by cleaning their ears, trimming their nails, and taking other health precautions. While this breed can take a lot of work to train, they are extremely loving and would be a great addition to your home! I'm the sweetest!
