Nenets Laika The small Reindeer Herding Laika of the Siberian Tundra— Rare Arctic multi-purpose Companion.
These are purebred puppies from imported dogs from the tundra in Russia. They are about the size of a Pomsky or a Shetland Sheepdog, in a fun rare breed.
The Nenets Reindeer Herding Laika is an ancient and extremely rare working breed from the Arctic regions of Russia. Developed by the Nenets people for herding reindeer across vast tundra, these dogs are intelligent, responsive, and deeply bonded to their humans. They are smaller and more agile than many northern breeds, with a natural instinct to work closely with people, making them highly trainable and incredibly devoted companions.
At NorthStar Ranch, we are proud to be one of the leading programs preserving and developing the Nenets Reindeer Herding Laika in the United States. Through carefully selected imports and partnerships with dedicated breeders, we have helped establish and maintain valuable bloodlines for this rare breed here in America. Our focus is on temperament, working ability, structure, and long-term breed preservation.
Our puppies are raised in an indoor/outdoor environment on our ranch as part of daily life. They receive extensive early socialization, enrichment, and real-world exposure. Many participate in our NorthStar Puppy Yoga sessions and other confidence-building experiences, helping them grow into well-rounded, adaptable dogs. These puppies are not only unique in appearance but exceptional in their connection to people.

They are registered through ASDR, which currently serves as our primary registry for the breed here in the United States.
We are based in Texas, but we frequently travel for puppy yoga events, dog shows, and deliveries. We have upcoming trips planned to the East Coast and other regions, and we are often able to coordinate delivery along our routes. We simply ask for a little help with gas if we need to go off route.

Meet Sterling, a fun, outgoing Nenets Laika puppy with the biggest personality in the litter! Sterling is a true character who loves to "talk" and always has something to say. He is affectionate, confident, and enjoys being the center of attention, making him an entertaining and engaging companion.
Sterling is being raised in our hands on socialization program and has participated in Puppy Yoga, giving him plenty of positive experiences with new people, sounds, handling, and everyday adventures. He is also introduced to grooming, baths, nail trims, crates, car rides, and other enrichment activities to help him grow into a confident, well rounded adult.
Sterling is well started on his age appropriate vaccinations and deworming and will go home with his health records and puppy information. Whether you are looking for an active adventure partner, a performance prospect, or a loyal family companion, Sterling is ready to become part of your family.
Transport is often available through our regular travel schedule, including much of the central and eastern United States. We also have planned travel to Colorado in August, making delivery convenient for families along our route.
