Description

Only 1 male puppy for sale. Geralt is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, playful, good-natured, loving little boy. He is a small miniature breed, weighs 10 lbs at 6 mos. He has a highly desirable smooth, black tipped red coat, although his papers list him as wild boar colored. He’s very soft and has beautiful dark brown eyes with striking lines coming off his eyes towards his ears, and a shadow of a widows peak. He’s the perfect example of a miniature dachshund. His personality is very sweet, and he loves to be held and cuddled. He loves to nap in your arms or lap, and even though he is quite playful, he also enjoys taking long naps. He’s very good-natured, and likes to socialize. He’s brave and clever, and very proud when he understands what you’re trying to get him to do when training him. He responds very well to treats. He has learned how to sit in place while we eat, waiting for his reward, and he knows how to ring the bells I keep on the back door to let you know he wants outside. He’s also quite funny and charming. He’s got most of the classic dachsund personality, but doesn’t bark that often, usually only to let you know he wants inside, or when he’s playing. If another dog is barking, he will let you know by barking too. But other than that he doesn’t usually bark if someone comes to the door, and he’s not bossy. He’s very smart and likes challenges like finding treats in the grass. He’s been crate trained and is perfectly content hanging out in his kennel for naps or even napping with our other small dog in her crate. He can sleep though the night about 7-8 hrs in his crate. He is also very well socialized with our other 2 dogs (1 small, 1 medium sized) and our easy-going cat and likes to play with them. He is trained to not jump on furniture and we don’t sleep with our dogs in the bed. He likes to be held and to sit on your lap so he will stand up to ask you to pick him up. We have brought him with us everywhere we go, so he is calm in public around people and other dogs. He travels well and usually naps in the car in his car seat. He is well-behaved in stores and at the park and even enjoys bike rides (just not in the dark). He doesn’t react to unknown dogs, he trusts us to protect him and does his own thing, sniffing mostly. We haven’t trained him to walk beside us much as we generally just give him that time to smell all the smells. But he has done a decent job of walking beside us when we’ve wanted him to, even with distractions. He seems to like to please us, especially if treats are involved. We also have a 12 yr old daughter who he is very good with. She has taught him tricks and plays tug with him and cuddles him and naps with him. He really enjoys being with people. The only reason we are looking for a new home for him is because after his adult coat grew in I became severly allergic to him. I have done what I can on my end to try to alleviate my symptoms, but it’s caused me to have to avoid the areas of the house he’s been in and it’s been very difficult as I am the one who’s been with him the most during the day. I don’t seem to be allergic in that extreme way to our other 2 dogs, so I must only be allergic to one of the 2 types of dog allergen proteins, which my other dogs don’t seem to have. We are heartbroken about it, as we’ve all grown quite fond of him, and especially as this is the dog I’ve always wanted. We are seeking a very good home for him, one where he will be given the love and attention he has become used to and deserves. It’s our preference he finds a home with people who are either retired or work from home, or have other similar natured smaller dogs for him to bond with, as he has become used to us being around all the time. We paid a stupid-riduculous amount of money for him in our ignorance and could never expect to get what we paid for him back, but I am asking $2000 to make sure he goes to the best possible home. He is current on all vaccines and vet visits, dewormed and in perfect health. Per the agreement when we purchased him, he is not allowed to sire any registered litters, only unofficial litters even though he is AKC registered. His vet said that he has a testicle that has not dropped and that he should be neutered to prevent any complications. We have not done this yet, but would be willing to cover the costs of that if you choose to do so. He needs a lot of individual attention, but will reward you considerably in love, joy, and devotion for it. He would be an excellent dog for someone who likes to travel, but also enjoys staying at home if there’s someone there to hang out with him. He really LOVES people.
