Pros
Captures the Golden Retriever’s legendary gentle temperament, family warmth, and trainability in a compact, more manageable size
Lower-shedding coat options from the Poodle component suit allergy-conscious households
Exceptionally good with children — the Golden’s family orientation is a consistent and defining feature
Outstanding therapy dog candidate — many Miniature Golden Retrievers serve in official therapy roles
Cons
Extremely high price range of $1,500 to $5,000 reflects strong demand and variation in breeding program quality
The Golden Retriever parent’s elevated lifetime cancer risk may be partially inherited by the Miniature Golden Retriever
Cardiac screening of the Golden Retriever parent is critical given Subvalvular Aortic Stenosis (SAS) risk
Coat type varies significantly and is unpredictable — low-shedding outcomes are not guaranteed without multi-generational selective breeding
