Large dogs

Large dog breeds are typically dogs with adult weights between 50 and 100 pounds and a height of about 24 inches or more at the shoulder. Many of these breeds were developed in the United States or Europe for working roles such as guarding, herding, and retrieving, which is reflected in their strength, endurance, and trainability. With proper exercise and consistent training, large dogs are often calm, dependable companions at home. Large dog breeds are a good match for active owners who have enough space and are prepared for the higher time, training, and care commitments that come with bigger dogs.
