Manchester Terrier Toy Price

Pros

Exceptional longevity of 14 to 16 years — among the longest-lived AKC-recognized toy breeds

Very low grooming requirements — the short, smooth black and tan coat needs only a weekly brush

The original ratting terrier — an elegant, clean, and historically significant AKC toy breed with a distinguished heritage

Intelligent, alert, and responsive — genuinely trainable compared to many toy breeds

AKC CHIC requires five separate DNA tests and evaluations — one of the most extensive CHIC health screening programs for any small breed

Maximum weight of 12 lbs under AKC standard makes the breed vulnerable to injury around young children

Can be reserved or timid with strangers without thorough early socialization

Strong prey drive toward small animals from the breed’s ratting heritage
