History: The Bordoodle is a cross between a Border Collie and a Poodle. The popularity of Poodle crossbreeds began in the 1980s with the first litter of the Labradoodle. Unfortunately, it is difficult to track the true origins of the Bordoodle but it is generally accepted that the first litter was bred in the United States. Both breeds are considered to be some of the most intelligent in the world, and the hope was that their puppies would be highly intelligent, low shedding, and friendly.

Temperament: Bordoodles are a friendly, sociable crossbreed with a happy disposition. They pull many of the Border Collie and Poodle’s best traits, and make great pets for any family or home size. They are friendly with strangers but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t protective. If they sense a threat they will go into protection mode to defend their family. With early socialization, they are great with children and make great companions for the elderly. They are incredibly intelligent and take quickly to training. Bordoodles are easygoing and require a moderate amount of exercise daily. One to two walks per day is enough to keep them happy, and they are able to skip a day if their family is working or away. They make great apartment dogs as long as they are regularly stimulated mentally and physically.
