History: A smaller-sized version of the standard Whoodle, the Mini Whoodle is a hybrid of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and either the Miniature or Toy Poodle. While it's impossible to know for certain, it is believed that the Mini Whoodle originated in the United States or Australia sometime during the 1980s or 90s. Unfortunately, the Mini Whoodle doesn't have a well-documented history, so there's no one person or breeder that can be credited with being the first to breed a Whoodle. The Miniature Whoodle is not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) since it is not a purebred dog, but it is registered by the Dog Registry of America (DRA), the Designer Breed Registry (DBR), and several other clubs for hybrid and designer dogs.

Temperament: Miniature Whoodles are social, active dogs that are well-suited for families, couples, and singles alike. These dogs are also known to do very well with children, but they sometimes have a tendency to chase smaller animals, like cats or rodents, especially if they aren't raised with them. So, it's important to socialize a Mini Whoodle early on during puppyhood. In terms of training a Mini Whoodle, it's best to have a firm, yet kind approach. While obedient and eager to please, these dogs do not respond very well to timid owners who have trouble establishing their role as pack leader. When properly trained and socialized, though, Whoodles make devoted, loving companions.
