History: The Pom-Shi is a designer dog that's a cross between a purebred Pomeranian and a purebred Shiba Inu. Along with most other designer breeds, the Pom-Shi is believed to have originated in the United States between the 1980s and early 2000s. Other than that, though, not much is known about the history of the Pom-Shi. Unfortunately, no one can be credited with being the "creator" of the Pom-Shi because its history is not well-documented. While the American Kennel Club (AKC) doesn't recognize any of the designer breeds, there are some clubs that do, including the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) and the Designer Breed Registry (DBR).

Temperament: The Pom-Shi is a happy and loving dog that is extremely loyal to its family. Pom-Shis are known for forming strong bonds with their owners, but this doesn't mean that they're clingy. Due to the self-sufficiency of the Shiba Inu, the Pom-Shi is a fairly independent dog. This means that it's less likely to develop separation anxiety when left alone. Due to their protective nature, Pom-Shis tend to be suspicious of strangers. However, they will warm up to someone once they know that the person can be trusted. In terms of energy level, the Pom-Shi is average. While they aren't overly active, Pom-Shis still require a decent amount of exercise daily. All in all, the Pom-Shi makes a charming little companion for families, couples, and singles alike.
