History: Also known as the Yorkie Bichon or the Yorkie-Chon, the York-Chon is an adorable hybrid of the Yorkshire Terrier and the Bichon Frise. The York-Chon originated in the United States, but unfortunately, that's about the extent of what we know in terms of the breed's history and origin. Between the 1980s and early 2000s, dozens of designer dog breeds started appearing, but few of these dogs have a well-documented history or can be traced back to one specific person or place. Still, an ambiguous history didn't stop the York-Chon from gaining tons of popularity. Today, the breed is recognized by a number of other clubs for designer dogs and hybrids.

Temperament: It's hard to say for certain what the exact temperament of a York-Chon will be, and this is the case for all hybrids. Some dogs favor one parent, some favor the other, and some are a combination of both parent breeds. However, in general, the York-Chon is an alert, affectionate, and friendly pub that does very well with children. While they adore spending time with their families, York-Chons are fairly independent, so they can tolerate being by themselves without becoming anxious or destructive. York-Chons are easily trainable, but it's possible for them to inherit the Yorkie's stubbornness. With proper training, though, the York-Chon is a well-behaved, lovable companion.
