History: The Yorkiepoo is a cross between a purebred Yorkshire Terrier and a purebred Poodle, typically a Toy or Miniature. Like most designer dogs, the Yorkiepoo has a mysterious history. It is assumed that the Yorkiepoo originated in the United States sometime during the 1980s or 90s, but that's about all that is known about this little dog's history. Unfortunately, there isn't any one person or breeder that can be credited with being the first to breed a Yorkiepoo. Nevertheless, the Yorkiepoo quickly became one of the more popular designer breeds. Today, it is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC), the Designer Dogs Kennel Club (DDKC), the International Designer Canine Registry (IDCR), and the Designer Breed Registry (DBR).

Temperament: Yorkiepoos are energetic, lively, and playful little dogs with a good nature. They're easily trainable and eager to please, making them a great choice for novice or first-time dog owners. The one thing Yorkiepoos love most is being around their human companions and being involved in family activities. That said, they are not the type of dog that can be left alone for extended periods of time. When by themselves for too long, Yorkiepoos can become destructive out of boredom, and they may develop separation anxiety. Outside of their families, Yorkiepoos are friendly and affectionate with just about everyone. As long as they receive the attention that they crave, Yorkiepoos make delightful, loving companions for all types of different people.
