Toy Poodle

11 weeks 6 days old

Look at me!  I'm an adorable Toy Poodle Puppy!  I was born on January 28th and am ready for my forever family!  My mom Jelly Bean  and dad Oscar only weigh 9 and 7 pounds!  I'm going to be a little one!  I have been raised in the country.  I am up to date on my shots and dewormers.  I have been checked out by the local veterinarian and already have my microchip.  For more questions or to set up a visit to see, please call or text Mandy.

The history of the Poodle spans centuries as well as across various countries, and they are one of the smartest breeds in the world.  When you think of a Poodle what comes to mind is the circus performing dog with the fancy haircuts and frilly outfits.  However, they were initially bred to be water retrievers.  They would leap into the water and fetch fowl, arrows, and whatever else a hunter needed to be recovered.   It has been noted that the Poodle originated in Germany, where the name came from the German word “pudel or pudelin” which means a splash in the water.  While in France where the Poodle became popular it was known as a “Caniche.”  “Caniche” came from the French word “chien canard” which means duck dog.  The breed had its hair cut in a specific style to assist them in the job they were meant to do.  They are extremely bright, dignified, and devoted, and make great pets for the family.  Toy Poodles would not be good with small children, but are great for apartment living as long as they do get the exercise they need, or they can become destructive.  Toy Poodles are usually 10 inches high, and normally weigh 6- 9 pounds.  They were developed to be a companion breed for the aristocracy and wealthy.  They are a sensitive breed, dislike being alone, and cannot handle stress or they can suffer from stomach distress.  They are easy to train but early training and socialization is suggested, for they do need to know who is the boss.
