DoodleAround began in 2006 in a petite household in Laurel, Montana. As of November 2018, we are extremely proud to be a founding member of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA), predicated on responsible breeding, evidence-based dog health, as well as democratic decision-making and transparency. At that same time, we were so excited to relocate a short distance back to Billings, where Joe and I were bred, whelped, and reared. We found a great location with plenty of room for dogs... and people.
Carolyn is the top dog for our breeding program. With her degree in early childhood development from Montana State University, she has owned and operated home daycare businesses from 1993 to 2014 in Wyoming, Nevada, and Montana. She fell in love with the Labradoodle breed in 2006 and started developing our breeding program shortly thereafter. She retired from infant daycare in 2014 to concentrate on the business of doodles. Since developmentally appropriate practices, educational enrichment, and nutritional programs are equally important to babies and puppies, she has found her early childhood philosophies translate directly into our breeding and puppy rearing program. We enjoy ongoing professional development and applying the latest research and best practices to our program, and enjoy communication with the breeding community, concentrating on the breed standard and raising the healthiest, most well-socialized, calmest and smartest puppies possible.
Joe is a civil/geotechnical/materials engineer, tech guru, artist, photographer and former teacher. Whether working on our web site, home, landscaping, cars, or cycles, he prefers to build projects from the ground up, with traditional, hands-on crafting.
When they're back in town, our own adult babies (and their loved ones), Zach, Ben, and Melanie all love playing with puppies and adult dogs.
