Serving families, patients, and institutions for 27 years, Service Dog Academy specializes in assistance dogs and has run a rigorous Golden Retriever breeding program since 1999, with operations in both Canada (Estérel, Quebec) and the United States (Hawthorne, Florida).
We invite you to meet our breeding dogs (often on-site) during a family visit (children welcome!), or—if you live further away—we can arrange a video call (via FaceTime, Zoom, or Teams) to introduce them to you.
We encourage you to review our detailed online information regarding our bloodlines, helpful tips, and forms designed to help us identify your specific needs. (For each breeding dog, we provide a complete, publicly available DNA profile confirming the absence of 268 common genetic diseases, along with other relevant data.)
We are delighted to assist you and share our experience. We can help you find the perfect family dog or meet needs related to a medical diagnosis. We breed—and sometimes train—assistance dogs or puppies showing great aptitude for the role, helping individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or various disabilities (such as deafness, mutism, quadriplegia, or wheelchair dependency), as well as those suffering from loneliness, depression, agoraphobia, or anxiety in public spaces. While our dogs are sold at various ages and sometimes come pre-trained—with prices ranging from $5,500 to $30,000 depending on the level of training (from basic obedience to specific command mastery)—most of our puppies are sold before the age of four months. Prices range from $1,500 to $3,900 (plus tax) and up, depending on TPO test results: up to 70% = companion dogs; up to 79% = ESA (Emotional Support Animal) profiles; 80% and above = assistance dog profiles.
The puppies have undergone extensive testing and observation and—depending on the individual—may already have acquired the basics needed to begin professional training for appropriate, submissive, and friendly public behavior, as well as mastery of the specific commands required to assist you.
FOR SMALLER BUDGETS / EARLY RESERVATION AND LOW PRICES FOR NEWBORNS – OUR SUPPORT FOR PATIENTS IN NEED:
If you have a limited budget, check out our short pre-reservation window for newborns; you can sometimes acquire puppies for $895, even before they are evaluated. By doing so, you could secure an ESA-profile dog for half price in 30% of cases; furthermore, in 15% of cases, you might be lucky enough to find a candidate for an assistance dog role (testing takes place at 7 weeks of age, five weeks after the litter is announced)—it is a great opportunity to get an exceptional dog for a fraction of the price!
Please note that rates increase weekly to cover care, training, food, veterinary fees, expert assessments, and evaluation tests; each additional hour of training adds $80/hour (plus tax) to the price. Please visit us in person; all reservations require a meeting with you.
