Description

These Dachshund pups have that wonderful combination of gentle and curious that makes the breed so easy to fall in love with, and spending time with this litter, you can really see it coming through in each one of them. They're the kind of dogs that will want to be close to you, exploring whatever you're doing with that signature Dachshund interest in everything around them. Physically, they have all the classic Dachshund character: those long, low bodies, expressive eyes that seem to take in everything, and soft coats that invite you to reach down and pet them. There's a warmth in how they carry themselves, and that quality tends to translate into dogs that are both companionable and adaptable. Dachshunds as a breed are known for forming close bonds with the people they live with, and the temperament showing in this litter reflects that well. They're observant, engaged, and clearly comfortable with human company, which suggests they'll settle naturally into the rhythm of a household. Any one of them would settle well into a home where they're going to be part of the family, whether that's a quieter household or one with some activity and movement to keep a curious little mind engaged. They've been vet checked, dewormed, and are up to date on shots, so you'd be bringing home a pup that's been looked after from the start. Families are welcome to come visit and spend some time with the litter. If you have questions or you'd like to set up a time to come by, please don't hesitate to reach out and we'll be happy to talk with you about whether one of these pups might be a good fit for your home!

Pros

AKC's most popular hound breed — combining apartment-friendly size with a genuine hunting dog's tenacity
Three coat varieties (smooth, wirehaired, longhaired) and two sizes (standard and miniature) offer real choice
Long-lived breed — well-cared Dachshunds regularly reach 12-16 years
Vocal watchdog in a small package — highly alert and protective despite modest size

Cons

IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) is the most significant breed health crisis — spinal injury risk is real and lifelong
Stubborn, independent terrier-like character requiring consistent patience in training
Strong prey drive and determined digging instinct — yards must be secured, small pets carefully managed
Housebreaking is notoriously difficult — a consistent crate-training approach from day one is essential
