Description
Ash is an approximately 1-year-old, very small male Shih Tzu-type dog, around 6–7 pounds. He’s sweet, affectionate, and very people-oriented once he feels comfortable. He loves being near his person, will curl up beside you or on you, and is happiest when he can keep track of where you are. He can be playful and silly, but he’s generally pretty low-key once settled.
Ash came from a home where he appears to have had very little socialization or training, so he is still learning basic household routines. He is not reliably house-trained yet and will need someone willing to continue working on potty training and a consistent schedule.
He does use a crate and can settle in it. He is generally fine being crated when no one is home, but may whine or bark if he is crated while his person is nearby and he cannot get to them.
He can be nervous in new situations and is easily distracted outside. He also prefers not to be picked up or physically restrained when he doesn’t want to be, so he would do best with someone who is patient and comfortable letting him approach on his own terms.
Ash has become much more confident and affectionate since coming into my home and has made a lot of progress. I am rehoming him because I no longer have the capacity to give him the time, consistency, and attention he needs, not because he is aggressive or unlovable.
I think Ash would do especially well with someone who wants a very close little companion and has the patience to continue building his confidence and house-training.
He will come with his crate and any remaining supplies and records I have.
