Description
These handsome little Rat Terriers are a lively, sharp-eyed little litter with a whole lot of heart packed into a very small frame. They're affectionate in that genuine, full-body way, where they want to be close to you and involved in whatever you're doing, but they've also got that terrier spark that keeps things interesting. With their mom, Skye weighing in at 14lbs and their dad, Hazen weighing 12lbs you can expect these pups to grow into a nice compact size suitable for many living situations. Any one of them would suit a family that appreciates a dog with both warmth and a little personality behind the eyes. As a breed, Rat Terriers sit at an interesting crossroads between the toy and terrier worlds, inheriting genuine tenderness from one side and a quick, confident intelligence from the other. They're alert and curious, which means they tend to notice everything and take real interest in the world around them, whether that's a new face coming through the door or something rustling in the yard. At the same time, they're the kind of dogs that settle in close when the day winds down, and that balance between adventure and affection is honestly one of the nicest things about the breed. The litter has been dewormed and is current on shots, and can be vet checked upon request, so they're off to a healthy start, and they're CKC registered for families who value that. We also offer a one year genetic health guarantee with each puppy. We'd love to have you come meet them and their parents in person, because these pups are the kind you really need to see up close to appreciate. If you've got questions about the litter or just want to get a feel for whether one of these little ones might be a good fit for your household, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Pros
Exceptionally long-lived — a healthy Rat Terrier can live 15 to 18 years, among the longest of any dog breed
Authentic American breed with AKC recognition and a rich history on US farms and homesteads
Very low grooming requirements — the short, smooth coat needs only a weekly brush
Friendly and adaptable temperament — more sociable with strangers than many working terrier breeds
Cons
Strong prey drive makes the breed unsafe around unsupervised small animals including cats and rabbits
Independent terrier mind requires consistent, patient training — recall is unreliable in unfenced environments
Prolific digger and escape artist — secure fencing with a buried base or dig-guard is essential
Can be vocal and energetic indoors without sufficient daily exercise and mental stimulation
