Description

Autumns 24k Goldens — Golden Retriever puppies in Detroit, Michigan Autumns 24k Goldens is a family-friendly Golden Retriever business in Detroit, Michigan, established in 1983, with over 40 years of raising Golden Retrievers in our home, in a very loving family environment, as family members — not in kennels, barns, or stalls, and not as a store. We are licensed and bonded and AKC Breeder of Heart certified, and we follow AKC, GRCA, state, and USDA guidelines. Our program is built on preservation of the original Golden Retriever: extensive genetic health testing and CHIC/OFA testing, genealogy over several generations, genetic diversity to keep COI levels extremely low, and a balance of show and field lines for strength, stability, and a calm, intelligent family temperament. Our Goldens are all-around fantastic family pets, especially for young adults, children, and the elderly — calm and intelligent, they know when it is time to work and when it is time to play. Puppies are available for families and for the Golden Wish program. Golden Wish puppies are very limited and are offered at significant discounts, with a regular application plus doctor documentation required. Veterans with PTSD qualify, as do people with chronic illness, including children with cancer. Last year we provided 14 free puppies to families with children who have chronic illnesses. We also offer slight discounts for a person 65 and older, veterans, and persons in the medical field, including EMS or police. Pricing — subject to change, availability and pricing are always updated on the website: - Currently on sale: $2,200 - Normal price: $3,200 for limited registration - Golden Wish: $1,200, discounted from the original price, for a limited number of puppies for people who qualify for the program - Full registration: extremely limited, requires special approval, starting at $4,800 What each puppy comes with: - A 3-year pet health guarantee, with a veterinarian visit within 3 to 5 business days - Extensive veterinarian exams before leaving — eyes, heart, ears, lungs, joints/ligaments, and stool samples — and each puppy must pass - Paperwork with vaccines, dewormers, microchips, and registration, lifetime microchipping, and health records - A care kit with food, toys, and surprise extras, and lifetime phone support for the dog and family - 24-hour live video from birth until the last puppy goes home, so you can watch your puppy grow, plus professional socialization and stimulus up to four hours a day Free because we are AKC Breeder of Heart certified: 30-day pet health insurance; a free veterinarian visit accepted by most veterinarians and AKC-certified veterinarians; an RX discount card for medications, which comes with registration from AKC and is usually emailed within a few hours; and a free AKC Puppy training course, which comes with registration — free, not a discount. These benefits can save a customer hundreds of dollars. All buyers are screened and must put in a Puppy application. Every applicant is vetted for a proper home placement, with the ability to care for the puppy and provide socialization, environment, and structure. A deposit is accepted only after an approved application and phone interview, paid as a reservation fee with a description of the puppy, deducted from the total, with the remaining balance due at pickup. A puppy is never held without a deposit. Puppies cannot be rehomed without our permission, and we will always accept a puppy that needs to be rehomed. All puppies are microchipped. Photos and videos on our website are updated every two weeks, for better detail of what is available. For current puppies, photos, videos, education, and our blog and forum, visit https://www.autumns24kgoldens.com Pickup is in Detroit, Michigan only. Autumns does NOT deliver and does NOT fly puppies itself. Clients may fly a puppy themselves; over 300 miles, we recommend flying on board in a carrier, no cargo. Veterinarian documentation for flights must be done at least two weeks in advance. Any specialized transporter must be approved by Autumns 24k Goldens. Bring an appropriate crate and a leash and collar, preferably a body harness. Pickup paperwork usually takes 10 to 15 minutes. Community services: through Golden Wish, we provide free and significantly discounted puppies to families with chronically ill children and veterans with PTSD — last year, 14 free puppies went to families with children who have chronic illnesses. We also provide food free of charge to community programs and individuals in need of non-GMO foods through Autumn's Farms / Autumn's Goldens education and food services, and we support our community generally. Autumns is very highly respected, and Autumns 24k Goldens has had no issues with clients in 40 years or with puppies. Pros

America's quintessential family dog — ranked #3 in AKC registration for decades, with an unrivaled reputation for gentleness with children

Exceptional versatility: guide dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue, hunting retrievers, AKC titling competitors — all in one breed

Golden Retriever Cancer Foundation-backed health research makes this one of the most scientifically studied breeds for hereditary cancer

Social and adaptable — reliably friendly with strangers, other dogs, and animals with appropriate socialization

Cons

Cancer is the leading cause of death in American Goldens, affecting over 60% of the breed — genetic testing cannot currently screen for this

Shedding is prodigious and year-round, intensifying dramatically during biannual coat blows

The puppy phase is extensive — Goldens are frequently described as puppies until age three

High exercise requirement; separation anxiety is common in the breed when owner interaction is insufficient
