Pros
Striking wolf-like appearance with heterochromatic eyes is among the most visually arresting of all designer cross combinations
Intelligent and highly trainable from two of the US military and working community's most valued breeds
Athletic, endurance-capable dog suited to active American lifestyles including hiking, running, and canine sport
Loyal and protective from the German Shepherd side with the Husky's social openness
Cons
Both parent breeds shed heavily — the Shepsky's double coat requires significant ongoing management
Husky independence and German Shepherd drive combine to require an experienced handler; not appropriate for passive owners
High energy demands make the Shepsky unsuitable for apartment or sedentary households
Prey drive from the Husky side requires secure containment — Huskies are escape artists
