Description

Howdy there!! I am a sweet bundle of love, kisses and puppy dog charm, also known as a Dachshund puppy! I am so looking forward to meeting my new family, and becoming an important part of your life! I am very small, long, and feisty, and afraid of almost nothing. I am super brave, especially when it comes to guarding my treats and toys! Like all puppies, I and very interred by every sent my sharp nose catches, and of course, have to go and investigate it thoroughly, which sometimes gets me into mischief. I love going adventuring, playing with my toys, and following my favorite people wherever they go! After a fun day of play, I am always eager to stretch out beside you in the cool house, for attention and belly rubs. I am extremely smart, and love to learn, especially when I'm rewarded with treats. As I grow, I will become a loyal and affectionate companion to anyone lucky enough to have me as their side-kick! My mommy, Doxie lives here with me and my litter mates, and has taken good care of me! To give you peace of mind, I have been checked by the vet and am all caught up with my shots and dewormer. I am also ACA registered. So what are you waiting for? Call soon, because I can't wait to meet you!!

Pros

AKC's most popular hound breed — combining apartment-friendly size with a genuine hunting dog's tenacity

Three coat varieties (smooth, wirehaired, longhaired) and two sizes (standard and miniature) offer real choice

Long-lived breed — well-cared Dachshunds regularly reach 12-16 years

Vocal watchdog in a small package — highly alert and protective despite modest size

Cons

IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) is the most significant breed health crisis — spinal injury risk is real and lifelong

Stubborn, independent terrier-like character requiring consistent patience in training

Strong prey drive and determined digging instinct — yards must be secured, small pets carefully managed

Housebreaking is notoriously difficult — a consistent crate-training approach from day one is essential
