American Eskimo Puppies for sale in Severn, Maryland

The American Eskimo Dog, often called the Eskie, is a striking white member of the Spitz family known for its intelligence, loyalty, and bold yet friendly personality. Despite its name, this breed originated in Germany and descends from spitz-type dogs like the Keeshond and Pomeranian. Immigrants brought it to America, where it worked as a farm guardian and performer before gaining official recognition by the AKC in 1994. Its dense white coat, alert expression, and lion-like mane give the American Eskimo a noble and elegant appearance that turns heads everywhere.

Bright, obedient, and energetic, the American Eskimo thrives in homes where it receives both mental and physical activity. Early socialization is essential to prevent wariness of strangers, a trait linked to its watchdog heritage. While affectionate and playful, Eskies dislike being left alone and can become anxious without companionship. Regular brushing several times a week keeps their thick coat beautiful and controls shedding, especially during seasonal changes. With proper training, care, and engagement, this charming and loyal breed makes a delightful companion for active, attentive owners.
