Developed in the 1990s, this designer hybrid blends the Poodle’s low-allergen, low-shedding qualities with the Australian Shepherd’s energy and loyalty. Size and color vary widely depending on whether the Poodle parent is Miniature or Standard and on coat genetics. Playful and eager to please, the Aussiedoodle suits families with children and owners who enjoy training and interactive play.

Remarkably smart and energetic, this breed needs daily mental and physical stimulation—think puzzle games, obedience, and active exercise. With sufficient activity, Aussiedoodles are calm, friendly companions, but boredom can lead to mischief. Coats range from wavy to curly; brush several times a week and schedule periodic trims for curlier coats to prevent matting. Generally healthy, they may be prone to issues like hip dysplasia or eye conditions, and they can gain weight without regular exercise.
