Chinese Crested Puppies for sale in Calhoun, Georgia

Also known as the Crested or Chinese Hairless Dog, the Chinese Crested is a lively, affectionate, and unmistakable breed, famous for its spotted pink skin and signature tuft of hair atop its head. This elegant and playful dog forms strong bonds with its family, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a loyal and low-shedding companion.

The origins of the Chinese Crested are debated—some trace it back to 16th-century China, while others argue it originated in Africa or Mexico. What’s certain is that this unique breed has been adored for centuries for its charm and exotic look. Once bred as companions and vermin hunters aboard trading ships, they became popular with Chinese merchants and later spread across the world. The American Kennel Club (AKC) officially recognized the breed in 1991, solidifying its place among beloved toy breeds.

The Chinese Crested stands about a foot tall and comes in two varieties: the Hairless, with smooth, spotted skin and tufts of hair on the head, tail, and feet, and the Powderpuff, with a full coat of soft, silky fur. Intelligent and devoted, these dogs are affectionate with their families and gentle with children and other pets. However, they can be reserved with strangers and don’t enjoy being left alone for long. The Hairless variety requires careful skincare, including sunscreen and moisturizing treatments, while both types need regular dental care. Despite their delicate look, Chinese Cresteds are energetic and enjoy daily walks or play sessions. With minimal shedding and high affection, the Chinese Crested makes a distinctive, hypoallergenic companion for any loving home.
