Cocker Spaniel Puppies for sale in Nashville, Tennessee

The Cocker Spaniel — also known as the Cocker, American Cocker Spaniel, or Merry Cocker — is the smallest member of the Spaniel family and one of the most popular companion breeds in the world. With their soulful eyes, soft wavy coats, and ever-wagging tails, Cocker Spaniels are known for their cheerful personalities and loving nature. Originally bred as bird dogs, these intelligent and gentle pups have become devoted family companions who bring joy to any household.

Descended from the English Cocker Spaniel, the American Cocker Spaniel was developed in the late 19th century when breeders in the United States began favoring a smaller version for hunting quail and other small game. The two breeds were officially recognized as separate by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1935, after which the American Cocker quickly gained widespread popularity. Medium in size and beautifully proportioned, Cocker Spaniels have expressive faces, long, feathery ears, and soft coats that come in shades of black, cream, red, brown, or white. Their friendly, affectionate, and playful disposition makes them great companions for families and first-time owners alike. Cockers are eager to please and respond well to positive training, but they need consistent structure and daily walks or play sessions to stay happy and balanced. Their thick coats require regular brushing and professional grooming to prevent matting. With their loving temperament and joyful spirit, the Cocker Spaniel is a timeless favorite for anyone seeking a loyal, affectionate, and spirited companion.
