The Frenchton — also known as the Boston Frenchie, Faux Frenchbo Bulldog, Frenchbo, or Froston — is an adorable and compact designer breed that combines the charm of the French Bulldog with the athleticism of the Boston Terrier. Developed to create a healthier version of the French Bulldog while keeping its signature look, the Frenchton inherits the Frenchie’s playful personality and affectionate nature along with the Boston Terrier’s energy and intelligence. The Frenchton originated in the United States during the 1990s, when breeders began crossing French Bulldogs with Boston Terriers to reduce the respiratory issues common in Frenchies. Typically, a Frenchton’s lineage is about 75% French Bulldog and 25% Boston Terrier, resulting in a dog that retains the Frenchie’s sturdy build and iconic bat ears but with a slightly longer muzzle and improved breathing.
