Morkie Puppies for sale in Wythe County

The Morkie — also known as the Morkshire Terrier or Yorktese — is a charming and affectionate designer breed that combines the best traits of the Maltese and the Yorkshire Terrier. Small, spirited, and full of personality, the Morkie is adored for its playful energy and loving temperament. This lap dog’s silky coat and expressive eyes give it an irresistible look, while its hypoallergenic qualities make it a great companion for allergy sufferers. Though tiny in size, Morkies have big personalities and thrive on attention and affection from their families.

Developed in the United States by crossing purebred Maltese and Yorkshire Terriers, the Morkie was bred to be a small, low-shedding companion dog — a goal that breeders achieved with great success. Standing around 10 inches tall, Morkies are delicate and lightweight, with long, soft coats that may be black, white, tan, or a mix of these colors. Despite their small stature, they are lively and confident, enjoying playtime and companionship, especially with older children and attentive owners. Morkies form strong emotional bonds and sometimes favor one person as their “leader.” Their fragile frame requires gentle handling, and regular grooming is a must to keep their silky hair free of tangles. Daily brushing, occasional trims, and routine ear and nail care will help maintain their health and appearance. While they have modest exercise needs, short daily walks and playful activities keep them happy and stimulated. With minimal shedding and a loving, loyal nature, the Morkie makes an ideal companion for families and individuals seeking a small, affectionate, and allergy-friendly pet.
