The Puggle has one of the clearest origin stories among designer breeds. By the mid-2000s, the Puggle had become the most widely owned designer dog in the U.S. Physically, Puggles combine features from both parents: a medium-length muzzle, long legs, dark expressive eyes, floppy ears, and a reddish-brown coat often accented with black markings. Their short fur is easy to care for, and many Puggles inherit the Pug’s signature underbite and charming wrinkles.

Common health concerns include breathing difficulties due to their shorter muzzle, as well as obesity, hip dysplasia, and eye conditions. Weekly brushing and occasional baths will keep their coat healthy, while extra attention should be paid to cleaning and drying any skin folds. Puggles have moderate energy levels—daily walks and play sessions are enough to keep them happy without overexerting them, especially in warm weather.
