The Sheepadoodle — also known as the Sheepapoo or Sheepdoodle — is a playful and affectionate designer crossbreed between the Old English Sheepdog and the Standard Poodle. Loved for their friendly personalities and fluffy, teddy bear-like appearance, Sheepadoodles make wonderful companions for families and individuals alike. With their gentle temperaments, intelligence, and easygoing nature, these dogs are both loyal and adaptable, thriving in active homes that can give them plenty of love and attention.
Developed in the United States during the “designer dog craze” of the 1980s and 90s, the Sheepadoodle was created to combine the hypoallergenic, low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the calm and loyal temperament of the Old English Sheepdog. While not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the breed is acknowledged by the Dog Registry of America (DRA), the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC), and the International Designer Canine Registry (IDCR). Medium to large in size, Sheepadoodles often inherit a mix of straight, wavy, or curly coats that come in shades of white, black, gray, brown, or red. These intelligent, affectionate dogs are easy to train and eager to please, making them great for first-time owners. They do best when they’re part of family activities and can become lonely if left alone too long. Regular grooming is essential to keep their coat free of mats, and daily exercise — like walks, games, or fetch — keeps them healthy and happy. With their loving personality and low-shedding coat, the Sheepadoodle is an ideal companion for those seeking a smart, loyal, and family-friendly dog.
