The Teddy Bear originated in the United States in the 1990s, during a period when designer breeds were becoming increasingly popular. Breeders aimed to create a small, friendly, and loyal companion dog that would thrive in households of all sizes. With its soft, fluffy coat and expressive eyes, the Teddy Bear truly lives up to its “Shichon” nickname. They typically weigh under 15 pounds, inheriting their size from the Shih Tzu parent. Their floppy ears are framed by long, silky fur that may need trimming, and their feathered tails curl gracefully over their backs. Teddy Bears are affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please, making them easy to train when started early.
