With its soft, fluffy coat and expressive eyes, the Teddy Bear truly lives up to its “Shichon” nickname. They typically weigh under 15 pounds, inheriting their size from the Shih Tzu parent. Their floppy ears are framed by long, silky fur that may need trimming, and their feathered tails curl gracefully over their backs. Teddy Bears are affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please, making them easy to train when started early. In terms of health, Teddy Bears can be prone to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and minor respiratory issues due to their shorter muzzle. Their coats, though low-shedding, require daily brushing to prevent tangles, or weekly brushing if trimmed short. Regular grooming around the eyes every few weeks keeps their vision clear.
