Developed in the United States during the 1980s and 90s, the Yorkiepoo quickly gained popularity as part of the wave of Poodle hybrid breeds. The goal was to create a small, low-shedding dog with the loving temperament of the Yorkie and the trainability of the Poodle — and the result didn’t disappoint. Recognized by several hybrid dog registries such as the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) and the Designer Breed Registry (DBR), the Yorkiepoo has become one of the most beloved designer dogs today. Yorkiepoos have a soft, silky, and often curly coat that can appear in a wide range of colors — from the tricolor pattern of the Yorkie to the solid shades of the Poodle.
