Weight, height & life expectancy: Male Shiba Inu Height: 14.5 to 16.5 inches (37 to 42 cm) at the shoulder Weight: 18 to 24 pounds (8.2 to 10.9 kg) (about 23 lbs average) Female Shiba Inu Height: 13.5 to 15.5 inches (34 to 39 cm) at the shoulder Weight: 15 to 20 pounds (6.8 to 9.1 kg) (about 17 lbs average) The life expectancy of a Shiba Inu is usually between 12-15 years. Key Traits: Personality: Confident, smart, and a bit stubborn. They can act like cats and value their space. The "Shiba Scream": They can make a very loud, dramatic high-pitched sound when upset or excited. Care and Feeding: Puppies need to eat 3 to 4 times a day. They have lots of energy and need regular play. Grooming: They shed a moderate amount and "blow" (lose) their undercoat twice a year (Spring and Fall).
