History: Sometimes called the Golden Labradoodle, the Double Doodle is a dog that comes from two other mixed breeds: the Goldendoodle and the Labradoodle. The first is a hybrid of the Golden Retriever and the Poodle, and the second is a hybrid of the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. The Double Doodle first appeared during the 1970s and 80s, but there's no one person that can be credited with developing the breed, which is the case for most designer dogs. Although the Double Doodle comes from three purebred dogs, it's not considered a purebred itself, so it is not registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Temperament: Double Doodles are loving, friendly, and happy dogs that make great pets for families with children, or first-time dog owners who are looking for a pup that's smart and easy to train. Double Doodles are highly sociable dogs that love to be around just about anybody, from strangers and children to other dogs and animals. Because of the intelligence and eagerness to please of its parent breeds, the Double Doodle is a highly trainable, obedient dog who quickly picks up on commands. However, Double Doodles typically require a strong presence when it comes to training to establish pack leadership.
