The thing to understand about mini Schnauzers is that they always think they are the Alpha in any situation. I saw Pepper the father jogging out to meet his 3 new "friends", “Coyotes” with such confidence that I stood back thinking my eyes were deceiving me. Turns out that Pepper was surprised as well. Those Coyotes actually bit him, he stood his ground and got real low and did a lot of avoidance techniques that were insane. Well I ran as fast as I could to get to him, I am 53, it felt like slow motion. The 3 Coyotes must have felt overwhelmed because they left. Pepper had to visit the vet but I think he was thinking I needed treatment and he was just going along for the ride. Seriously torn up but never uttered a whimper.
So If you have had Schnauzers before you know you are NOT getting a standard pet. Schnauzers have loads of personality and confidence, with big hearts and tons of love to share. If that is not your thing, start looking into other breeds.
We got our first Schnauzer in South Korea more than 30 years ago. My wife found this little sick puppy in a window and we got him thinking he was a Scottie but once his hair grew back we came to realize that he was in fact a Schnauzer.
