Email Phishing Scam

We've been made aware of an email that has been received by some of our customers, which warns about your account being blocked, and asks to complete a form with your login credentials to verify your account. This email is fraudulent and from an unauthorized third-party, not Lancaster Puppies. These emails often use logos and imagery that make them appear like they were sent by Lancaster Puppies, but there are certain signs to watch out for to prevent scammers from obtaining your information.

Signs of a Scam Email

Note the following signs of a fraudulent email:

Email was not sent from an email address ending in "@lancasterpuppies.com"

We will never send an email ending in anything other than "@lancasterpuppies.com". So if you have received an email from "lancasterpuppies4@gmail.com", it is not coming from us.

Email requests you to confirm your login information

The strongest indicator that the email is not legitimate is that Lancaster Puppies will not request to confirm your account once it is created, nor ask for your login information for any reason. Any emails you receive that give you the instructions to submit your login credentials for verification purposes are fraudulent.

Email takes you away from Lancaster Puppies website for login verification

If there are links in the email that go to a form on a website other than "lancasterpuppies.com", it is not a legitimate email from Lancaster Puppies.

What You Do if You Submitted Your Login Information to a Phishing Email

If you receive a notice that your account must be confirmed, let us know. This is an example of phishing, and if you've filled out this form your account could be compromised. Then you must reset or change your account password immediately. Steps to do this are below:

To change your password:

  1. Go to https://www.lancasterpuppies.com/user and log in if you are not already logged in.
  2. Click the tab "Update Email / Password"
  3. Enter your current password in the box at the top and a new password that is significantly different in the boxes "Password" and "Confirm Password"
  4. If you are using the same credentials to access any other sites, change your password there as well to separate passwords.

Prevention

Lancaster Puppies will never ask for your password via email on any site other than lancasterpuppies.com. Before entering your password on Lancaster Puppies, check the address bar on your phone, tablet, or web browser, to make sure that it shows "lancasterpuppies.com" and a lock icon:

(it may look slightly different from this, but the address bar should always start with a lock icon "https://www.lancasterpuppies.com" at the very beginning of the address)

Make sure that the login form looks the same as it did the last time you logged into Lancaster Puppies. If the login form is different, this is a strong indication that the form is fraudulent.

You do not ever need to verify your account, nor will we ask for your password in an email or text message.

Let us know if you receive any suspicious emails claiming to be from Lancaster Puppies, and we will investigate to prevent further instances.
