Our puppies are AKC registered.  They are raised as working/hunting dogs, so for their safety in the field their tails are docked, and front and back dewclaws removed.  We begin crate training before they go to their new homes, and we also begin basic commands.  ESS's are high energy and need lots of exercise and mental stimulation to keep their minds busy, otherwise, they can become destructive.  With consistent training, they learn boundaries quickly and need very little discipline.  If not trained properly they can become very hard-headed and demanding.  We work with them to make this process as easy as possible for our new families, but it will still require a lot on the part of the new owner.  

This breed makes for an amazing family dog.  Our kids wrestle and play with our dogs all the time.  They are calm when indoors, and very tolerant of noise and anyone new we bring in.  They are very social, and happy dogs.  They require lots of attention to get them to this point, but if you are willing to put in the work the reward of this amazing dog is so worth it.  

They are also excellent bird hunters.  Ellie is a top-performing hunter on our pheasant farm.  Cedar is in his first year of field training and is doing very well.  We are looking forward to many years of successful hunting with both of them.  Their puppies are beautiful and will also be excellent hunters.  

At Buttercup Hill Spaniels we are committed to excellence in AKC registered breeding.  We have our own Momma and Daddy dogs.  We only breed them once a year.  They are raised in our home, and we have 5 kiddos that shower them with attention and love.  We live on several acres that allow our puppies to have the freedom to be outside and get to use their little noses from a young age.  Under our supervision, they are able to explore and develop their skills.  We raise working/hunting dogs, so a ton of work is put into them before they go to their new homes.  Our Daddy is a watercolor meaning most of his coat is Roan.  Our Momma is a liver and white with ticking.  They have absolutely stunning puppies, and we are looking forward to meeting their new families and making sure they are going to homes that will put as much love and attention into them that we have.  All puppies will be vet checked and have their first set of vaccines at 6 weeks old. 

We work hard to make sure that our families are happy with their new puppy, so our prices reflect that.  We are not ordinary breeders, and we choose to breed our dogs to use the skill set that they are known for.  Our Momma dog is an incredible hunter, and our Daddy dog is well on his way to becoming the same.  Our training starts at 4 weeks.  We begin with eye contact and "follow the leader" games.  They then learn basic commands "sit" and "come".  By the time they get to their new homes they should be almost fully potty trained ( for night time).  We do not take our jobs lightly, and we want all of our new puppy homes to enjoy their new puppy and have the best experience possible.
